With more than one-third of Americans citing that the stress and strain of COVID-19 is having an impact on their mental health, the need for treatment and messaging around mental telehealth options is becoming increasingly necessary.
Potential at-risk groups include:
- Studies have linked loneliness to substance abuse and mood disorders.
- Those stuck inside with abusive partners or are living in already strained relationships.
- Managing addiction could risk relapse without in-person meetings or access to rehab.
- The jury is still out on whether prolonged quarantining will affect today’s children in the long term, whether it be emotional or in terms of educational attainment.
- Stress, fear, and grief are on the rise, and demand for remote therapy has already spiked.
The American Psychiatric Association finds video-based sessions “equivalent” to in-person care for diagnosis, treatment, quality, and patient satisfaction, and more and more insurance programs are covering the cost of these sessions. If mental health services are something that your organization can deliver via telehealth technology platforms, now is an important time to inform potential patients of your services or educating on how therapy or other services can be completed virtually.
